Strength and Conditioning is about more than lifting weights !
Strength and Conditioning should be divided into 2 parts. It encompasses the entire development of people, from ordinary people to athletes and what is needed to improve physical performance. Strength training includes plyometrics, speed and agility, endurance and core stability with weight training is being just one piece of the jigsaw.
So besides the goal of strength, the next focus is about conditioning, where aim is to reduce athletic injuries. To that end, conditioning coaches often design regimens to strengthen specific body parts that are prone to injury in that particular sport.
The conditioning coach also monitors the general health of the client, sometimes providing nutritional advice or referring clients to a registered dietitian if they need more sophisticated nutritional counseling consultation.
